In addition to the more conventional types of threat, such as phishing and malware, Coro was tested against a range of Business Email Compromise (BEC) scenarios too. These attacks often bypass traditional security mechanisms because they frequently don’t contain malicious links or attachments. Instead, they rely on social engineering, making them incredibly dangerous and quite hard to spot by either people, or technology.
“Testing email security without BEC scenarios is to ignore a highly effective and popular method that attackers use every day to infiltrate businesses. During the test, Coro Email and Cloud Security was exposed to advanced targeted attack techniques inspired by threat groups known to target defence, government and financial organisations.
To make the test even more realistic, a simulated target organisation with regular suppliers and other partners was created. This enabled the SE Labs’ team to use look-alike adversaries and broaden the techniques deployed such as using similar domain names to send malicious emails. Legitimate messages were also sent through the service to ensure that security settings were balanced with reasonable usability.

Coro Email and Cloud Security was especially effective against phishing emails and malware attacks, with a 100% protection against these types of threats. It achieved a high overall Protection Accuracy Rating of 94%, missing only a few emails that employed social engineering and business compromise techniques, and scored 97% in Legitimate Accuracy. These excellent results contributed to Coro Email and Cloud Security’s overall94% Total Accuracy Rating and its AAA award.
