SE LABS Ⓡ, the cyber security testing authority, announced today that it has awarded Palo Alto Networks an AAA rating after examining Cortex XDR’s ability to protect against a wide range of ransomware attacks.
SE Labs’ analysis shows that Cortex XDR excelled in detection and was able to track attacks on targets other than the main target endpoint. It provided thorough insight into the full network breaches that concluded with ransomware deployments. It also provided complete protection against these.
“All of the attacks used in this test are valid ways to compromise an organisation. We base our testing on current threat analysis of real-world attacks and use never-seen-before variations to test a product’s ability to detect new threats,” says Simon Edwards, founder and CEO of SE Labs. “Palo Alto Networks is to be congratulated on Cortex XDR achieving a 100% Total Accuracy Rating on this rigorous test that featured a new set of threat data for 2025.”
Cortex XDR was able to detect every movement that each targeted attack made throughout SE Labs’ test network. The product detected the attacks on the Internet of Things (IoT) devices in the network’s periphery. It also detected lateral movement and lateral action as SE Labs’ testing team jumped from the endpoints to the deeper targets on the internal network.
“We’re proud to have achieved the highest score possible in this latest ransomware test. SE Labs is known for its uncompromising review of security products, and this result proves our consistent dedication to delivering the world’s most effective AI-driven endpoint security to our customers,” says Hadar Oren, SVP of Product Management at Palo Alto Networks.
Cortex XDR was able to detect every movement that each targeted attack made throughout the test. Based on its 100% Total Accuracy Rating in this challenging test, Palo Alto Network’s Cortex XDR lives up to its promise as an advanced security product for EDR protection and has been awarded a AAA Rating.
